This material earned its original patina from its previous purpose in agricultural buildings, old warehouses, and other historical structures that were ubiquitous in the central and eastern regions of the US. You can maintain that original patina for an organic surface and old world feel, have it skip-planed to reveal some of the bright grain beneath the surface, or milled smooth for a cleaner look with inherent character from its past use.
